The Giggle Patrol
Where laughter is the Best Medicine
Main Hall 1.30 - 3.30pm
The Giggle Patrol is for all our community, to gather together to enjoy some company. We could be in the kitchen making pizza or cake. Or maybe playing a game or sharing a craft, it’s up to you. All we ask is £2. We have no plan other than gathering together and seeing where it will organically go. BSL can also be used with one member of our team should the need arise. Helen is qualified at Level 3.
We will be in the main hall at 1.30pm for two hours with some tea, coffee and biscuits and look forward to your company and lots of laughter.
We look forward to seeing you, all are welcome!
5th September
Vicky with Tropic Skin care.
We had Natalie a few weeks ago we know, but some missed it. It was so good we thought we’d do it again. Can’t have too much of a good thing can we?
15th August
With all the beautiful poppies we have so far we thought it would be an idea to start sewing them into the cargo net. Soooooo here we go!
25th April 2025
1st British Sign Language Class. Introductory Class
Please bring a note book and pen with you to take notes that you may need as we go along.
This will be ongoing throughout the Giggle Patrol sessions to help us with our conversations and communication with each other.
I will be inviting members of the Deaf community and fluent BSL signers to join us as we go along and we will play games together to incorporate the language into our everyday life. I hope you will enjoy this as much as I do.
Much love Helen
28th February 2025
A relaxing afternoon, doing word searches, knitting, crochet and sipping tea. Helen attempted to use the projector to explain certain stitches for crochet. She bought some yarn and her stash of hooks for us all to have a go. We were lucky to have some talented crocheters among us to help with the learning. Thanks everyone for such a lovely afternoon.
14th February 2025
Decorating a bookmark with Calligraphy with Jackie.
31st January 2025
A happy hour with Hayley doing Chair Yoga that proved very popular. Thanks Hayley.
29th November - Quilling
What a wonderful day we had with Dee; Quilling. Have a look at her Facebook page to see all the wonderful things she does. There was a lot of twiddling, fiddling and giggling going on. Why not come and have a go and try something new. Or just come to watch and have a cuppa and a chat!
9th August - Games Day
It’s lovely to see that the Gigglers are Giggling. We had a big laugh today playing loads of silly games bought to us by our Carol (without an ‘e’). I forget the names of the games but they included lip reading, chirades and team participation with a guess three words. All washed down with some lovely refreshing lemonade. (Perhaps we should contact the ice cream man to come next week?)
Line Drawing - 2nd August
Our newest Giggler, Julie, showed us how to do line drawing.
A lovely class presented by the beautiful Julie White. She offered us all a chance to try line drawing. So relaxing and so achievable even if it did start out looking like a boobie. The line drawing of a dandilion clock looked really classy and we all went home with a card to give to someone. Interesting chatter and drinks on a warm summers day, we were even treated to a cheeky beer. (A one time only offer 🤣) so refreshing. Next week a few requests. We thought a nice natter and some games maybe?
Crochet Class - 26th July
Look at these lovely ladies all learning to crochet 👏 such concentration with a sprinkling of laughter, tea and biscuits 🥰 A big thank you to everyone that came along, thank you to those that helped out with the refreshments and a special thank you to Helen for bringing all the supplies as well as some beautiful samples of her work 🥳❤️
Next week we are going to learn how to line draw with Julie ... hope you can come along to join our happy hour 😊
Lin
Friday 12th July
We had our first Giggle Patrol today and was overwhelmed at the turn out. We had a giggle learning about each other with the task given by Lin to find out about the nicest thing about person to the left of you. Then we had to tell the group about that person. We had Kind, fantastic friend and many more (My apologies I can’t remember them all) And someone keeping their husband busy at home by breaking everything🤣
We were then asked to tell about one job we had had. We found there were mushroom pickers back in the day, that were grown in hot manure. Oh the smell! We have ladies who worked in the bank and a teacher. Two IT technicians. A solicitor’s typist. We had a flautist, someone who had grade 1 recorder, and a singer too
We wondered, what should we do next week. Helen mentioned she would bring in her crochet. Give those that were interested a go by bringing some hooks and yarn.
So until next week… keep safe, have a think about what you want to do. If you do. If not just have a chat!
